Buying a repossesion without certificates?

I have recently put an offer in on a repossesion, the surveyor went to check the house today and has been on the phone saying there are no certificates relating to the services. What are the implications of this?

    you may have a damp proof course that has failed

    your boiler may blow up at any time

    your electrics may be ancient

    but talk to the surveyor on the phone and get some informal views on the state of these things - he wont committ himself on paper tho

    Ok. There were people living in the house just 3 months ago, so thats a good sign. Potentially though it could be a finacial nightmare? As the house is very cheap, im a first time buyer etc.

    you just dont know - thats the problem with repos - the departing owners dont cooperate with estate agents and lenders. as i said - talk to the surveyor who does the survey and get their informal views - OR - get a structural survey

    how old is the house - what sort of house is it

    Its council house, from the 50s. Spoke to neighbours and they assure us everything was working fine when the previous owners resided there. Couple split up and left.
