BCA Auction View

Hi

Has anyone got access to the BCA Auction View?

If possible I would really appreciate knowing if there are any of the following coming up for sale:

BMW 5 series saloon diesel M Sport
black
either 2.0 or 2.5L engine.
19" wheels
leather (black)
Media Pack

Im not sure how much spec is given from Auction view so if my search can be refined further I can give more info as to my dream car.

Im looking at Probably Brighouse, Manchester, Preston or maybe Scotland if the right car is available.

The price isnt really my main concideration as I am waiting and searching hard to find the best spec'd one I can find.

Thanks a lot in advance to anyone who helps.

Mike.

Been to the moon and back that one! However BMW engines are bulletproof normally. They have one car they leant to Mobil which has over a million miles on it. This was a E30 325i.
  • Thanks a lot happychappy for your reply. Am i right in thinking that this is the only info you get on the auction cars? I guess you just copied and pasted info?

Yeah Arlen it has done tons of miles.

Anyone - Am I righ tin thinking most of the cars that go through will be silimar to this? Ie high milage and prob low spec? Is it a case of watching it until a diamond appears somewhere?

Does anyone know the deal on viewing the auction cars, and more info would be great.

    Thanks again guys

Most will be ex-lease cars which means lower tax cars like 520d with fairly low specifications.
BCA Nottingham has BMW days, check their web site for dates and auction catalogue.

I did work for BCA in their IT development dept. a while back so got to know a fair bit about their business, but I was never in touch with that kind of data.
Part of the trick will be trying to look like another dealer acquiring stock. I've heard that if you are identified as being "joe public" the bidding will go up higher than normal.
Going along just to see what happens before actually intending tyo buy anything is a good idea.

I don't have time for it, I would hunt round BMW AUC (approved used cars) looking for a dealer willing to do a deal you like. You can search for AUC cars at bmw.co.uk.

Try and get the Auctioneers name cos if it's that tvvat Mark Jones he will be bidding you off against the wall if he spots you're a private man...

There is a 530d M Sport at Belle Vue on July 21st that I found on auctionview. 2007 plate done 28,000 in Carbon black with leather.

Nationally there are 10 5 Series Diesel M Sports on BCA. Depends how far you're willing to travel...

A couple of tips on the 5 series in particular (I spent a lot of time on a BMW forum).
The E61 touring actually rides better than the saloon and handles the same, so don't ignore a good touring if it comes up.
Also if looking at M Sport trim a popular option are the lower profile 19" wheels type 172 "spider" whihc look like this:
    59555.JPG
I would strongly favour a car with these because its the one tyre in the range which is not a run flat, which means despite the low profile substantially better ride and better grip especially in winter. It's also around £500 for 4 tyres (staggered set up, rears not same size as front) compared to the £800 a set of 4 run flats cost for the M Sport 18" wheels. You also get a space saver spare wheel jack etc. with the 172 wheels, absent if you have run flats.
I have test driven a 525d M Sport with these wheels and it gets the ride / handling balance spot on in my opinion. The ride is much better than my 3 series touring with higher profile 16" wheels and run flats.
