At auction don't you have to put 10% in as a deposit which they could keep if sale falls through... only got to do that 10 times and you've got the money for it ;-)0

i dont know - but i fully expect the auction house to take most of the 10% in "fees" if a sale falls through.0 -
Do they really charge that much? I think I might track one down and have a chat. No point in ruling it out without the full info.
Just got a quote from 'fast-track' as to how much they would offer on our home. Due to it's history they offered £100'000. £34'000 less than our mortgage and £70'000 less than the market value of other similar houses in the area. Ouch!0 -
We run auctions in the company I work for and it's nowhere near 10%! More like 2%, and if you come on through the agency I think you just pay the agency fee.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

Don't suppose you could tell me how to go about finding a suitable company to deal with an auction, or to get more info from? Do most estate agents have contacts? In the phone book / internet it just seems to take me to companies miles away! Or is this standard?0 -

blondie how long until the further work is completed?
I realise it's been 6 yrs and you want out, but if in 2-3 months time the work is finished can you then get a structural engineers report to show the house is stable and therefore sell through the normal route? Also hopefully at a normal / better price?0 -

We are in Oxfordshire.
The work is due to be completed by the end of this month, and we will therefore not look to do anything til the work is completed. However, having spoken to numerous mortgage companies, they have all said they would not offer a mortgage on a property with this history at all, except for one company that said we would require a report from a structural surveyor and at least 2 years must have passed since the work was completed. They did say that even then, it would be more than likely refused. This is the second time the house has been underpinned, and it does not appeal to anybody!0 -
i think you have bought a pup if it has now been underpinned twice.... sorry thats not what you want to hear. ...
can you rent it out ?0 -
Sounds like the first attempt at underpinning failed, or there has been further subsidence.
So mortgage company were also unaware house had subsidence.....very interesting!If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
