ATOL Protection and Bookings

Hi! I'm looking to get a week in Barcelona for me and the hubby in January (my birthday) and the cheapest agent deal I've found is through co-op breaks at £565 including a 5% discount.

I've found the exact same hotel and flights for only £440 if I book everything seperately through easyjet and 1800 hotels.

My question is this: is it worth booking everything seperately and making the significant saving or am I better to spend more and go with the travel agent for ATOL protection? I'm planning on booking with my credit card so I know I'll be protected for the hotel as it's a purchase over £100 but the flights are only £55 each for returns.

I've compared a lot of prices and pitted many companies against each other and these look like the cheapest deals I'll get.

Many Thanks!

Charlotte.

So for two it is £110 on the booking?

I don't think Easyjet are likely to curl up and die but the hotel booking agent sounds American and could be great or about to go pop. Why not just look for the website of the hotel and book direct, then you have even less to worry about?

ATOL protection is important when times are hard but as you can see it costs money but not having any protection could cost you even more. If you buy a package you not only get financial protection, you also get the assurance that if anything goes wrong, you have someone to act on your behalf and put things right. If you are confident you can 'do it yourself' go ahead but peace of mind may be what you are looking for.

Hi! Found the same package with expedia for around £500 so I'm going with that, the extra £60 is worth it for the ATOL protection and assurances. Thanks!
