Cash from credit card

I've just received a Virgin MBNA credit card. I have a Sony MBNA card and I want to transfer the balance to the Virgin card. When I spoke to them today they told me that I couldn't balance transfer as they are both MBNA. They suggested I take the offer of 0% on cash to be paid into my bank account and the pay the balance on the Sony card. This sounds too easy.
Is it a good idea?

Yep, that is what people normally do... With MBNA family anyhow.
Just be aware that the Super balance transfer option (that is what is it called) is more expensive.. The tranfer fee is 4% I think.
