I thought a charging order is like a secured loan on the home so when I sell they get their money. But Im not planning on selling!!!! Never will hopefully.

hi i am in the same position as you awaiting a ccj from the Halifax, if they get a ccj then they can go for a charging order on your home this turns the unsecured debt into a secured one on your property just like a mortgage, therefor if you default on the ccj they come after your house,

charging orders are becoming more common at the moment there is a procedure that they must go through but these are ignored sometimes

it should be ccj default on ccj interim charging order/ full charging order/ forced sale although the forced sale very rarely happen especially if children reside in the property.

but i wouldn't concern yourself with that at the moment.i have around 30k in equity and thats what there after

Just a quick question, Culater - was the A&L loan 'secured' against your house?
