in Credit cards
as per topic
currently have a Capital One Credit card, which is my ONLY card i have all going well i use it wisely once per month tio help build my score.
my score at present is 842 and have just been declined a Halifax reward account
i have no other issues or defaults or anything, one thing i did find out that is my name on the electoral roll was stated wrong (middle name used as first name), although i vote very year. So i have called the council and they are sending me a form to fill so i can correct this.
so im thinking of applying for another card and il use that once per month too, would this help me increase my score?
obviously applying for the bank account with Halifax has left a search entry on my report.
im a bit worried that if i apply for another credit card i may get declined.
any advice?

What reason did Halifax give?
Appeal the Halifax rejection citing the information you've provided here.
Don't apply for anything else until you've obtained, and checked, your credit reports.
You don't need to use the Capital One card each month. You'll still get your 'payments are up to date' marker (the so-called green zero) because, er, your payments are up to date.
One final thing...ignore the meaningless 'score' one of the CRA's has given you. And don't waste any more money buying 'numbers'.0 -
Why do you want to "increase your score"? It's an arbitrary number that doesn't really mean much at all.
Halifax are pretty shocking. Their online banking is dire. Their custoemr service is worse. And their bank charges if you're ever unfortunate to get on the wrong side of them are daylight robbery!
Was there any particular reason for wanting the rewards account? - you can get it all cheaper if you shop around hard enough. They've probably done you a favour."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
