advice for a confused newbie

Hi One and all,

I have spent time ready various threads etc and think I understand it all but would like some clarification before I send letters etc

My wife and I have got ourselves into alot of financial trouble but we are just about keeping our heads above the water but we are really struggling now.
We have a large second mortgage/ secured loan with First Plus which we have had for nearly 6 years in various forms, we had one loan then neede some more money so refinanced with them. We were advised to have PPI and I believe they front loaded the loan and then when we refinanced put on extra charges to pay off that loan then front loaded again on the second. I did call them after a couple of months and was told the insurance was over £140 per month I asked to cancel and was told I couldnt as I was out of the 30 day notice period which I now believe was incorrect, regarding this company do I send a SAR for all the info then a letter reclaiming the PPI or just send the first PPI letter?

My wife and I both left Lloyds TSB as they were killing us financially as we had Credit cards, loans overdrafts etc and they wouldnot accept lower payments etc and just raided our accounts at will as all our accounts with them were not joint accounts if we send off a SAR for each of us will Lloyds send the info on our bank account, loans, credit cards etc off of the one SAR or do we have to send a different SAR for each account? We have paid off many of these loans etcnow but know we were hammered with charges?

I am listing below the companys we had CC and loans with and want to know again who do I SAR and who do I just send a charge/PPI letter

Me
Egg cc + loans(all repaid)
Barclaycard CC
Morgan Stanley Dean Witter CC
American Express CC

Wife
Marbles CC
Creation Card (adams store card cleared twice but charges constantly be put to the balance)
Capital One

Note neither of us have a CC and never will have again but advice as to where and how to start much needed

many thanks in advance

  • It about everything PPI also charges etc, can you word a SAR to one company to cover all the products that you have had with them, ie I have had with Lloyds TSB
current account - lots of charges
credit card - charges + PPI
    Loans - charges + PPI

so do I send Lloyds one SAR or five (one for each claim)

I thinks its just one but want to get it right and give them as few excuses as possible

    thanks again
  • You need to keep things separate, ie PPI claims, credit card claims, bank charges claims because there are differences between them. Most bank charges claims are on hold, credit card companies tend to try and get you to settle for just the difference between their previous charge and £12 as per the OFT report of April 2006 and PPI can be a minefield.
