Hi I've had a trawl through the various threads, but couldn't find an answer.
Any good tips for removing greasy / oily marks from cotton?

I would like to know too, my son does a mean bacon and egg sandwich, but not only does it splatter everywhere (he says you cant get bacon crispy with a cover on it), it splatters all over his named sweatshirts which cant be washed in a hot wash.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. swarfega dab some on then wash right away
works every time
if you havnt got swarfega just use washing up liquid let it sit for a couple of mins then put in the washer

i've recently discovered dylon stain removers. £1.49 from wilkos, last forever and took beetroot straight out of a white top the other day for me. you just dab some on before washing. have tried vanish etc before with no joy but would recommend this. they do one for greasy stains too.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

soapless hand cleanser is good for grease stains.
If you find any, let me know where you get it from.
Also, soda crystals dissolve grease. I've sometimes got rid of grease stains by adding a bit to the wash powder.0 -
you can get swarfega from halfords or a chandlers
you can make your own with washing up liquid and drop of turps
and yes washing soda is great
fly spray moves oil and tar off clothes0 -

up until recently, my messy eating has not been a problem, as food dropped straight to the ground.
Lately however, it hits my belly first :-[I'm only here for the banter0 -
Busts aside, i use hot water, bath soap and a nail brush. Takes out most stains.0

son and old fart just changed the engine in a car for a mate
they came home filthy
so I used me vinegar and voila it all came off the clothes perfectly
Many persistent stains can be removed with vinegar: coffee, chocolate, ketchup, jam, cola, wine. Gently rub stain with vinegar, then wash.0
