HSBC hassling me by text now

in Credit cards
My bank have sent me a text message today, it's the first time they have ever done it and I'm as annoyed as hell as I've never given them my mobile telephone number!
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there any way of stopping it?
I phoned O2 and they said not so it's looking like having to get a new sim card. I feel completely incensed about it!

Hassling in what sense? If it's marketing just give them a call and they will change your preferences, no big deal.0

i got called on my mobile by hsbc fraud detection after spotting some purchases on amazon. they were all my purchases but it's good to know that they can get hold of me if they think i'm being ripped-off.

Nope - not marketing. It's all the usual stuff that you get by letter when you can't afford to pay as much off your credit card that month as they'd like you to. Just want tips about how to stop them texting me really. I am aware of what the situation is with my account as they've written to me also.0 -
I guess paying what you owe would stop the calls/texts
Could you call them and come to a repayment arrangement? this would surely stop it also as long as you stick to any agreed payment plan0 -
Try sending "STOP" back to the number.
If that doesn't work call them up.0 -

I think you mean the 2.5% minimum repayment that's stated in the terms and conditions?Just want tips about how to stop them texting me really.
You'll need to make at least the minimum repayment. Best to deal with it promptly or it'll start putting black marks on your credit report and have your account flagged for possible closure."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Texts are good, they save the environment0

Just to add if you opt out of marketing or update you preferences onhow to be contacted this will stop the texts.0

Seems a very laid back attitude to not being able to pay what you owe.
Did you address this when you received the letters?0 -
Go into any branch & request that they remove your mobile no. from their records-you should be able to watch them do so on their screen - once they have 'saved' the up to date information, job done!"Hope for the Best
Prepare for the worst"0
