Do the banks and financial ombudsman take your personal circumstances into consideration when fitting financial hardship criteria? I am expecting my first child unfortunately without the help of my ex partner, also have debts amounting to roughly 8k and my outgoings are more than my ingoings which i have put on my expenditure form? Also need a major repair on a leak in the house, Can anyone advise me on this?
Thanks in advance

If you have written to the bank explain how the charges began ie maternity leave, separation from a partner and how the charges have built. Explain about essential repairs that will increase that indebtedness because it is required. Furthermore, if you have priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities) then add that as it is an important component to Financial Hardship.sienna2009 wrote: »Do the banks and financial ombudsman take your personal circumstances into consideration when fitting financial hardship criteria? thanks for that Natweststaffmember. That is actually what I have done I think lol. Sent an outgoing and ingoing expenditure form, expressed my current situation and also noted that I do not have maternity pay off my employer, the house repairs and outstanding debts.
They have said they will try and help my financial situation in a letter a month ago but this was only because I informed the financial ombudsman who asked them to look at my situation. But I also pointed out that I have one debt with themselves and the rest with other debtors, they said they wouldnt look at my charges due to fsa blah blah blah till a later date.
I phoned the bank today and they said at first they had not received my letter, when I came to mention it was recorded delivery it seemed that they had managed to find it and apologised for sending a letter out stating they had not heard from me to discuss my finances.
So guess will wait and see.0
