redundancy queries - any help please

my partner works nights and as such has a shift element as part of his wages, 2 weeks ago and with no notice (is that legal!?) they were told that the company was on short time and that for the next 2 weeks he would be required to work days (which pays no shift premium) for 2 days one week and 3 days the next - now he (as did many others) took holiday for the first week (holiday is always paid inclusive of shift allowance as per his contract) they have now had a consulataion and will be making over 50 redundancies and those at risk will be told asap - so some questions...
Firstly his holiday pay - should it still have been paid at the contractual rate (ie inclusive of shift)
If he is at risk, what rate of pay will he be paid at? If during consultaiton can they still put him on short time ie "you are at risk" but we still only have one day a week work so therefore all you will get is 4 days pay? Or can this not be done during a consultation period.
If he gets made redunanant he will get 4 weeks notice, what rate of pay will this be at?
Any help advice gratefully received!
