I disagree... Applying 2% to £100 balance is not a science. It is very basic math.
How do you want to understand cosequence without understand the amount? You cannot borrow unless you know you can repay. Unless you know how much to repay you don't know whether you can afford it?
Also from what she was saying she doesn't understand the principle at all.
Read her first post properly and you will find that.
I am sorry, maybe my first post was a bit harsh, but nothing gets me going more then people getting into a debt - which can be extremely dangerous - without understanding.
Applying 2% to £100 is basic maths you're right, but for some people the concept of a 26.49% APR just doesn't translate to a simple calculation over a few months. I agree that unless you know how much you'll have to repay you don't know whether you can afford it - but in this instance, the OP was definitely trying to find that out in advance of making that purchase. And they were asking others, who can work it out easily, to explain - they were trying to educate themselves. I just feel that hostile or negative replies won't encourage people to ask seemingly 'silly' questions for fear of retribution or being put down.
I do hear what you're saying though - I too hate debt and this concept in society that we should be allowed to get everything and anything on the never never, but in this instance, I do think the OP is just trying to make the best of a tricky situation and wants to present themselves well when they start their job :-)0 -
i dont see the problem op has got herself a job so needs clothes for it she wants to pay them off over 2 months so less intrest to me thats good thinking on ops partIf you dont like me remember its mind over matter, I dont mind and you dont matter0

I agree I was harsh - I saw red the moment I saw the thread and for that I appologise.
I agree with you that the OP was trying to find out in advance, but I got angry that she didn't ask for explanation, she chose the easy way = just to get an answer.
For that reason I truly hope that the OP will either not use her cards again or that she does some studying on the product first.
Note: Sorry, I assumed the OP is a female. If is it male I appologise.0 -
The next minimum payment is roughly 10% of your outstanding balance.0

!!!!!!?Just checked this thread and didn't realise there had been further replies!
I asked a question and got the answer, though I had already worked it out. I just wanted confirmation that I was correct.
What do you class as 'studying' the product and finding out information on it? Might that be CALCULATING THE INTEREST ON A PURCHASE IN ADVANCE TO WORK OUT WHETHER I CAN AFFORD TO PAY IT BACK? Fool - that's exactly what I was doing :rolleyes:You cannot borrow unless you know you can repay. Unless you know how much to repay you don't know whether you can afford it?
That is why I asked how much interest I'd pay if I paid it off over 2 months - goodness, you really should read posts properly before getting on your high horse and preaching to me about borrowing money.
It does appear that you have a problem with 'selective reading'. You noticed my other credit accounts listed in my signature, but wasn't quite sure whether I was female or not. It quite clearly says I am female in my signature. My avatar is also a bit of a give away.
Thanks for all other member's replies by the way0 -

You really should think before you type
Chill Babe! Don't let these muppets get to you! You know what it's like, just ignore them..... at the end of the day your mates on here all wish you the best in your new job and being able to add 2% to £100 or working out Pi x Pi + 99 x pi ‘divided by’ pi..... the point is it's irrelevant.
Guess Any will be p!ssed-off when he reads that you're going down the unenforceable route to remove late payment/default markers - :rotfl::rotfl:
So what you going to be doing then, in your new job...?2010 - year of the troll

Thanks NID, you're right
My new job is as a web designer - so no maths involved (thankfully!) :rotfl:0
