Now that we no longer live in the UK but are in Europe we are having difficulty finding a Bank in the UK that will open an account for us. Does anyone have any ideas for us?

Try opening a citibank account in your country and then open one of their pound sterling accounts0

Try offshore banks in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
I live in Australia and was able to open a savings account in the Isle of Man with Bradford & Bingley http://bbi.co.im/ after I moved to Australia. This is a savings account and requires a current account to link to.
Google for other banks or go to www.moneyfacts.co.uk/money/offshore/1/offshore-fixed.aspx for best savings rates.
Some offshore banks charge a monthly fee for current accounts, Lloyds offshore charge £7.50 pm.0
