Daughter wants to raise money -ideas please
Options
My dd (13) would like to raise some money for the cats protection league. We have a local branch and call in most weekend. When we can afford it we give a donation. In the spring there are often lots of abandoned female cats that are pregnant or with kittens. She would particulary like to raise money to help these cats (perhaps for spaying?).
Any ideas please? She is quite shy. Her strenghts are music and art, but would prefer anything that involves reading or writing because she is dyslexic.

Could you help her to create some flyers asking for goods to be donated to sell at a carboot sale. She could give these to friends and family.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0

Hi there Prudent
I think it's lovely that your little girl has such a big heart and wants to help - she's a real credit to you! :A
When I was at junior school, we did a sponsored silence for half an hour. Strangely, parents were queuing up to sponsor us!
But as your daughter wants to try something involving reading and writing, could I suggest the following?
If she can rope some friends in, get them to do a sponsored "story tree". The first member of the group writes the first sentence of a story and then passes it to the next person. They write the next line. And so on passing it round the group in turn. This can be really good fun and they could get it written up and illustrated at the end. Then they could sell copies for extra funds, or give the finished piece to the people who have sponsored them. Put a time limit on this activity, although I guarantee that once they start they won't want to stop!
I wish her well with her fund-raising. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -

Oh dear I just re-read my own post. It should have read she would prefer NOT to do anything that involves reading or writing. She really struggles with both. Thank you for the lovely idea though. I like the idea of the silence. She is a real chatter box at home (despite being shy out).0 -

How about sponsored Jobs, cut the lawn, clean your windows, go shopping etc. Has to be something different to what would be her normal family contribution to household chores. For instance my young nieces have a washing up rota at home but can be sponsored to come and do mine.
Great big hug for a lovely little girl, If you do not mind, do hope you get loads of suggestions.Sealed pot challenge 5430 -
Get her and her classmates to do a bag pack in a local supermarket (in their school uniform). A lot of schools, scouts etc do this at the shop I work in. You will need to write a letter in to the store manager to get permission.0

One idea is to work closey with some of the vets etc that would do this work.
She obviously likes animals in general. How about asking a vetinary practice to give some time to help the CPL in return for some of her time in helping to look after the animals in the care of the practice?
I would suggest that they donate an hour to the CPL for every hour she works.
She would be happy, the vets would feel that she's serious and would want to repay her dedication in the way that she wants. This would then either increase the vetenary time available to the CPL or reduce their costs. Either way everyone wins.
Good luck

I make cards and earrings that my local hospice sells in their charity shop. As you daughter enjoys art maybe she could do something along these lines.0

This is a great idea as she loves making cards- and they are to a good standard. The cats protection league do have a shop. We could also sell them at church, I could sell them at work and she could try her school friends.0 -
Here are a few ideas - getting physical though!
How about offering a dog walking service for people at a reasonable rate for half an hour (staying local of course and with someone else to stay safe).
Car wash or bike (pushbike) wash?
Litter collection for local companies (you know how crisp bags and coke cans fly around the car park etc)
The sponsored silence brought back memories!I did that too when I was little.
How about if she could talk the school or some other place where there is a bit of space & tables to hold a table top sale and everyone pays a few quid to have a "pitch". That money could go to the charity and people get to make a few pennies.
Good luck to her though, what a lovely little girl she seems.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Sometimes businesses will hold a basket of cards in Reception and people can buy them there....we do at our place and they sell pretty well. People are always forgetting birthdays or special occasions that need a card until the last minute and having them on Reception is a God send at times.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
