Lloyds TSB Share Dealing Account

I have been "pretend" share dealing over the last couple of months, (ie not really investing, just making notes wether I would have lost/gained).

Anyway, I am now in a position where I can and want to place some cash in shares, but in an account where I can manage.

I am looking at the Lloyds TSB share dealing account.

Has anyone any experience of this?

Also I am looking at investing about £1000 as that is what I can afford to "lose", should the worst happen.

1000 isnt that much, about 1 trade. You could cut the commission down and buy smaller amounts of shares to taper the investment, halifax will deal on a daily rather then instant basis for less cost and share center and iii also do that I think, not sure about lloyds

Double the commission and divide by the share amount you will buy, in order to work out rough costs of dealing and percentage gains you require to break even.
iii have a calc for share gains

Why pay Lloyds £15 per deal + £8 pq (or even £11.50 + 8 for frequent dealing) when iii for example charge > £10? with NO annual/quarterly fee?
