If you wanted the individual scoops you could make up the creamed spinach (or even just plan cooked spinach, just drain it really well) and then use an ice cream scoop to put portions on a tray. Freeze them loose like this then bag them - voila, posh scoops of frozen spinach! :)

  • Hi Can somebody please tell me whether there is a way that you can freeze fresh spinach as I have half a bag left and don't want to throw it away.

    Many Thanks,

I frequently freeze spinach....put into colander, pour boiling water over, chop, cool and put in bag or whatever and into freezer....colour is sometimes very dark when you use it, but taste is fine

Yes, you can - I put mine straight in the freezer, no preparation, then cook from frozen. Works fine.

  • Great, spinach freezing 101 - ruddy tescoes had none of the frozen so I had to get a big bag of fresh!

    Hi,
Simple question really.....I have taken some fresh spinach from the bag for a recipe tonight, but as we are going away on Saturday, how can I avoid throwing the rest out? Common sense says 'freeze it' but what is the best way to do this?
Sorry if it sounds like a silly question!

Just wilt in a pan then freeze as is.

I just washed it, cut the long stalk things off and put the rest in bags and froze as it was :D
