Hello All,
I`ve been browsing here for a while and have always found the advice to be really helpful and informative.
Okay, sucking up over, I now have a question which I can`t find already answered.
My situation: Have been resident in the UK all my life, but am now emigrating. I will put the house on the market before I go.
My question: Will I have to pay CGT on the sale if I have left the UK for good? HMRC`s Help Sheet 278 seems to suggest that I will. Can I get around this by leaving the country `temporarily`, and then coming back when the sale goes through?
Any help, comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
