Just got my new nationwide card in the post, I bank with them and they gave me a gold card but why is my limit only £3500? My sainsbury platinum was the same, is it there way of upgrading you on the the posher card to make you think you're special? As far as I can see £3500 is nothing to shout about I had £12500 on my old MBNA but there deal was pants.
Now I have this card and the sainsbury one do you think it's a good Idea to dump the barclaycard. I've only really still got it as I have been with them since I was 18 ( nearly 22 years ) especially since they did away with nectar points.

Nothing to see here, move along.

What do you need a higher limit for?Coveredinbees!!!! wrote:Just got my new nationwide card in the post, I bank with them and they gave me a gold card but why is my limit only £3500?
To borrow? There are cards with better rates and deals.
To spend? Do you really spend more than £3.5K p.m.?
Don't chose cards by their look or name. There are more important factors to consider ...
BTW Nationwide don't have a 'Platinum' card and I am happy with my gold one. I use it only abroad or to buy some appliances - to get free 1-year extended warranty.0 -
I did say gold card sainsbury is the platinum. I want the card to rack up as much spending as possible at 0% to offset my mortgage :jNothing to see here, move along.0

It is not clear what cards and with what limits you still have now. If the total credit available (even not used) is close to your annual income this could be the reason of the small limit given by Nationwide, although MBNA are known to give higher limits.0
