Need Landline & Broadband - best deal?

I moved into a new place approx 8 months ago and now ready to launch into getting a landline and broadband, so can finally get online at home.

Looking through this site, I can get free connection to BT landline - but tied in for 18 months.

Best Broadband deal is not with BT.

Whats the best way/deal to set up a brand new Landline & Broadband package?

Side note...may not be living at the same place in 12-18months. Can you take the contract with you?

Thanks in advance.

Now off to check out the forum for the best laptop deal!

As long as it is not new build , if their is a BT socket already and the line is still intact between exchange and residence, you can normally get free connection on 12 month contract.

You can take contracts with you.

Post Office Homephone (a BT compatible line) dont have a minimum term for their landline, their cheaper phone/ broadband bundle is very popular.

The BT offer can only be taken out once so if you move home and full connection charges apply to your new line then you have to pay cancel charges or pay the new connection charges.

    From the 18 month deal.

    2. Customers can only apply for this special offer once in any 18 month period.
    3. Customers may upgrade their Calling Plan but they may not downgrade within the minimum term
    4. Customers who qualify for BT Basic may migrate without fulfilling the remainder of their minimum term.
    5. Customers moving home and retaining an account with BT can take the remaining minimum term of their chosen calling plan with them.

BT broadband is expensive, but you can take the BT connection but get your broadband elsewhere. The only BT commitment is the line rental and the minimal inclusive call package.
You will not find wirelesss broadband an adequate substitute for landline ADSL.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
