Credit card woes...

in Credit cards
I got myself a Virgin Credit Card last September, and transferred my balance from my old card across. I then topped the balance with purchases for my wedding next July. Since I had a chunk of savings in a Mini Cash ISA, I then contacted the ISA account by letter to transfer £900 to my Virgin Credit Card account, thereby paying off a goodly chunk of the balance. With me so far? Good.
Trouble is, the money didn't make it. It disappeared into the electronic ether, and the matter is currently in the hands of my solicitor. Which leaves me with a card with a largish balance, and time running out on the 0% deal.
What do I do? I still have purchases to make, not only for the wedding, but also for the purposes of making our flat a sellable property. I don't want to up the balance on my current credit card, and I don't want to transfer the balance while issues with the balance are being dealt with legally. and I have no idea how long the legal side will take to sort out.
Numpty question I know, but my credit rating is good - should I get another card, running up debts on two cards, or should I go for a loan? Help!

Neither ... nor - IMHO. Don't start your family life with huge debts. Live within your means. You cannot predict the outcome of your legal actions, but you are ready to spend the money as if you already had it.speff wrote:... should I get another card, running up debts on two cards, or should I go for a loan? The only exception could be spending on the flat - only if you are 100% sure that this will increase the value so that you get more than you spend when you sell it ...0 -

I agree with you completely about avoiding the huge debts, as that is a worry to me (given that it will be my income, and my income alone, that pays for our future family life when it starts). My parents have already indicated that they want to pay for the wedding - I want to negotiate with them on that, but some money for existing payments made wouldn't go amiss. the matter of the flat is more tricky; it's more a case of making the flat sellable by redoing the kitchen, the bathroom and the stairwell carpet (the last particularly). When in doubt, make soup.0
