  • missthang, use the couponby 28th July as thats when the half price offer of 20 tabs finishes- no pun intended!lol if you find some 100% extra free ones all the better... but think they may have all dried up.. or been cleaned out..lol

I think you will find that if the salt light is on you need to fill it with salt. A dishwasher engineer told me that it is very important to fill up the salt and rinse aid as it can damage the machine.

I think it very much depends on whether you live in a hard or soft water area. When we bought our dishwasher last year, we were told by an engineer that salt wasn't essential as we live in a soft water area (we don't get limescale in this part of the country).

We put some in ours anyway, along with rinseaid as the plates etc look better and dry quicker with it in the machine. The buckle and braces approach I guess

Tesco Value dishwasher detergent is one of the cheapest detergent tablets in their tests – even when the costs of rinse-aid and salt are added, it works out almost two thirds cheaper than Finish Quantum Powerball combination tablets.
But while the price is low, cleaning performance is high – it’s great at removing a range of food stains, although it falls down slightly when it comes to getting rid of milk and egg.

I got a double pack of tablets last night so thanks to the OP. New dw and hadn't used rinse aid as yet so I got out the instructions to check where and why and it said "rinse aid makes it easier for the crockery to dry as water runs off surfaces more readily and therefore does not leave streaks or marks" and "if using multi functional tablets and you wish to further improve the drying performance of the appliance, fill the dispenser and set the dosage adjuster to 2.(default is 4)"

Another one with soft water so no salt required and it will be interesting to see if the rinse aid makes much difference.

Look carefully at the Rinse Aid neck collar!!
It was a great find BUT...............in Tesco Cleethorpes the coupons on the neck turn out to be 3 EUROS off- only honoured in ROI, and we are on the east coast, not even the right side of the country! I only discovered the problem at the check out! Am hoping Tesco Customer Services in Dundee can solve it!

Customer services in Dundee sent me Tesco gift card with the appropriate refund (in pounds!!!) by return of post! Thank you guys!!

  • Don't forget Tesco will take the £3 off your normal shopping. So if you really don't want to buy the diswasher tablets as the 100% extra is not in your store (or the half price has ended!) you can just have £3 off your shopping.
