Comprehensive Insurance to drive another car
Hello
I am insured fully comp on my car and this allows me to drive any other car third party. I would like to be insured fully comp on a friend's car for approx 2 weeks for a holiday abroad (in Europe). Is there anyway I can do this other than being added as a driver to my friend's insurance (which we don't want to do)? I have asked my insurance co and they have said that the only way to do this would be to be added as a driver to my friend's insurance. I was wondering whether there is another way to do this, eg to just get standalone insurance for a few weeks.
Thanks
Rachel

Adding a second driver can cost very little, mine was free.0

You may be able to get stand-alone insurance, but the cheapest way is to get yourself added as a named driver on your friend's policy. Get your friend to phone their insurance company and ask - depending on your "risk" and history, you may find it's only £20 or so to get yourself added for 2 weeks. It also makes things easier if the worst should happen - as long as you've been honest about your details when you get yourself added, there's no argument and there should be no problem with a claim.0
