Going to be a bit of a catch 22 situation for some of us. If i were to be forced back into work it would most likely make my condition work rendering me unable to work (or put me in hospital).

Not to mention this news is making me even more paranoid and really puts me off applying for help :(

You only need to worry if if you're not genuinely sick. Surely you'd agree their are cheats out there that just pretend.
    It's someone else's fault.

Can someone please lock, delete or move this thread as it is clearly just here to try and cause trouble.

Sadly there are too many examples on here to demonstrate that the former part of your post is tripe.

Do we actually have BG's on this board anymore?

I think that's what it is supposed to do, but don't let it. I know that's easier said than done but people with genuine illnesses and disabilities have a right to claim benefit. It's not charity, it's a right. You don't get the same vitriol aimed at pensioners or carers for claiming benefit. Can you imagine the tabloids calling pensioners scroungers and carers scammers? I work for a community mental health team and this constant attack on the mentally ill is having serious consequences, not to mention the cost it has to us as a service. We don't even deal with mild cases, we don't have the funds, we deal with high-moderate to high and yet we have a terrible time with Atos just ignoring supporting evidence from specialists and disrupting expensive and vital treatment programmes. The one thing in our favour is that we have a very good working relationship with the personal advisors at the DWP who are equally horrified at the serious conditions that are being ignored and then passed onto them. We also have a local stakeholders partnership with the DWP which gives me access to meetings and managers, both regional and national which has, and continues to be, very helpful. So much for the government stating that the PA would be trained in mental health, they received half a days training where we are, we provided the rest for free and continue to do so. How the government expects DWP staff to deal with this issue when they don't even value them enough to provide proper training is beyond me. No, they're too busy trying to ship the work out to private job brokers who are now all in the news for scamming the figures to up their fees. The irony of it all is they're cutting jobs at the DWP with stealth privatisation but giving the staff breakdowns before they get rid of them.

Sorry, rant over. I think I'll go and get a glass of wine.
