Insurance I didn't realise I had

I was made redundant at the end of March, and was out of work for 3 months. I had a call from Egg Credit Card today and discovered that I have insurance with them. I wasn't aware of this and was going to cancel it on the spot, but didn't want the hassle as I was cooking at the time so thought I'd leave it until tomorrow. However I've just realised that since I have this insurance, could I claim for the 3 months I was out of work? And how would I go about doing that?

Here are the terms and conditions from the egg website: http://new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_11086--View_1077,00.html

Appears you cannot claim for the first 28 days of being unemployed but can claim thereafter. However, not sure whether you can backdate your claim since you never put in a claim when you became unemployed, best if you phone and ask them.

Checking Egg website they charge the following, you would see that on your credit card statement if you had the insurance policy in place:

"For a monthly fee of 79p per £100 of your statement balance, Egg Card repayment protection could pay a monthly benefit of one tenth of your outstanding balance until you return to work or for up to one year"

Thankyou, I will give them a tinkle tomorrow and see what they say.
