Options
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had tips or hints of best place to get plain trousers for work please? I tend to go to Next or Oasis but wondered if anyone knows of any good value shops or online sites??

I find New Look pretty good, I have to try on several styles to get a nice fit but they have lots to choose from. HTH

I got my last pair from Peacocks.

  • I bought cheap ones from Tesco but wasn't that keen on them. New Look have a lot of choice and are reasonably priced

Try Premier Man - they do women's clothes also.

Thank you, I had totally forgotten about new look! I have not heard of Premier Man will look it up. Had a quick look in H&M but as they had a sale on there wasn't much stock in my size..

Why do sizes vary so much from shop to shop?? You can be a size 10/12 in one shop and a size 14 or 16 in another shop... that's why I was wary to order online..

I like H&M trousers but their sizes come up soooo small...if I'm lucky I can squeeze into a size 20 (I found a pair a couple of years ago) but I find most of their trousers are only good for ladies with slim legs:rolleyes:.

I'm between a 16 and and 18 in most shops, I recently bought 2 pairs of trousers in New Look which were size 16, but in Next I wouldn't get a size 16 past my knees.

I live in black trousers for work!

i find the best places to buy them are
new look - around £20 for nice fasionable ones
debenhams - nice cotton ones for around £25
peacocks - good fitting polyester type ones for £8!!

i go to these places specifically cos they do short length!

I bought some trousers from Tesco last year for £10 and still wear them to work now as they are still in good condition.

I do like Next's clothes and their quality but I don't really want to spend £35 on a pair of trousers just for work. My Tescos trousers are serving me well :D
  • I can recommend these from M&S http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B001D0KBIM/sr=1-2/qid=1247653902/ref=sr_1_2/275-9994457-8004852?ie=UTF8&node=&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=&mnSBrand=core&size=9&rh=n%3A43097030%2Cp%5F94%3ABootleg%2Cp%5F36%3AGBP5-GBP9.99&page=1
I see they now also do another style for £9.50. They last ages & wear really well. If you want to splash the cash a bit more they do a range at £15 too:D

I've just recently bought a pair of plain black trousers for £20 from New Look, nice quality material (not that horrible polyester stuff), great fit (round the bum and tum) and lovely length.

Only downside is that the zip has started to get 'slippy' and have found myself flying low on a couple of occasions already (and no they're not too tight and I haven't got a big belly).

I wouldn't recommend Asda - their fittings are terribly unflattering (for me anyway).
