    sorry Ive tried to attach a pdf and my reply dissapeared!!

    so I have attached a link for you to use for a conservation guide (the pics of the before and after may help)

    as for questions, depend upon your aim.

    if you want windows that look as close as poss to the originals, then get a picture of the building when built, (libraries often a good starting place)

    If you find an original, it'll be "balanced", the old steel windows were designed to line with the mortar courses, yet today the vent size is determined by the ease of manufacture, (forget what it looks like!!!!)

    Georgian bars lined through the doors and windows because they used different sections, today most plastic is one size so the "squares" are all different sizes (this can be avoided) and therefore look horrendous.
