I have again today received the bt cheques and as alot of you know to pay of existing balances. However has anyone just paid them into their bank account and still enjoyed the promotional rates. Or paid them in and they have been stung with the normal apr because the cheque was not payable to a credit card company.

Obviously, the cheques are not intended for this purpose.Has anyone just paid them into their bank account and still enjoyed the promotional rates?
I don't know whether the bank's system is sufficiently intelligent to tell whose account a cheque has been paid into, but personally I wouldn't risk it.
Could your partner (if there is one) or a trusted family member route the money through their current account?People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
