Anyone had any dealing with these people?Just going doorto door on a council estate sounds a bit dodgy to me,and they are offering a right to buy.The only thing we have signed for is to give permission for them to contact the local council[our landlord].On their leaflet it says the mortgage fee will be an estimated £2995 which will be put on top of the loan. The overall cost for comparison is 8.4%.
My partner told them he is unemployed but this didn`t seem to bother them.I think were going to be refused-not that I`m bothered-but I just want to be sure were not getting involved in any high percentage loan sharks IYKWIM.This firm also do consolidation loans, remortgages for people who have been refused elsewhere, you know the sort of thing.
So any info would be gratefully recieved, and if you all say they`re !!!!!! then I can tell them to bog off-in politest terms,of course!
many thanks,luv giz

I'd never deal with anyone who came knocking at doors in an effort to get business. It's the kind of thing a shady outfit would do.
If your partner is unemployed then it may not be wise for you to think of buying your property right at this time. At the moment you may qualify for housing benefit because of low income, but you don't get this kind of help with a mortgage. If you risk buying your home & can't keep up the repayments then you are likely to have the property repossessed.
If you really want to see if you can get a morgage to see if you can take advantage of the right to buy, then go see a whole of market mortgage broker to ensure you can get the best possible deal. Don't give dodgy outfits a chance to get their claws into you. :eek:The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Tell them to bog right off.
Why pay £3000 for something that a broker will give you for nothing? Especially why take a mortgage if your husband is currently unemployed?
Report them to the local Trading Standards as cold calling of any description for Financial Services is now banned.

Thanks for that, just the idea of them going door to door was enough to put me off.I know that anyone trustworthy would not encumber us with a mortgage, and TBH I`m quite happy in my little council house anyway!0
