Balance Transfer nightmare

Help, My Husband has a M&S credit card and recently transfered the balance from another card onto this one, only problem is it didnt go through but the money is now showing on the card! Which mean we have two lots of the same debt, we have tried to call M&S and get them to remove the debt but they say they have passed it on to their admin team to deal, only trouble is they dont call is back ever! This has now been ongoing since May and we have been paying the two card as well as interest, what can we do ?

The most likely explanation is that when M&S asked for the card number to which the money was to be transferred, there was an error made either by your husband or the M&S staff and the money has gone into someone else's account.

You need to get M&S to confirm the number of the card to which they transferred the money and if this is correct then the error lies with the other card issuer or somewhere between the two of them. If you cannot get someone in authority at M&S to respond to you, put the request in writing, recorded delivery.

I recently did a balance transfer from my Lloyds card and at the time they treble checked the card number I gave them because they said that if the money went into the wrong account they wouldn't be able to retrieve it. I don't know whether that statement by them is true or whether they were just making me extra-vigilant in checking the card-number.
