Holiday ideas??

I would like to sort out a late summer break (end Aug-Sept) for myself and husband, both in our mid-50s.

We don't want to fly for more than 4 hours, so I expect we're talking about somewhere in the Mediterranean. The destination needs to have good safe swimming, a bit of history, sunshine, good affordable food (I've heard horror stories about Corsica and places on the Greek islands) and lovely scenery/sunsets.

We don't want to do cruises or escorted holidays and the budget is c. £1500 - £2000.

ideally, Stansted, but Gatwick is fine.

Have a look at Croatia it is absolutely beautiful everywhere you go.

I went last October & the scenery/sunsets are amazing.
I would put some photo's on here but it's not allowed.

It is cheaper to book flights then sort out your hotel.
I did it last year & paid £500 HB for the 2 of us.
Easyjet have cheap flights to Croatia.

One of the must see places in Europe is definately Dubrovnik!

If you do go let me know if you need advise about trips.

    One of the Greek islands?
Check out the beaches-great for swimming but some are stony though i was surprised, didnt find that a problem as the water was so lovely it made up for it.
Look at olympic holidays for example.

I couldn't believe it but Croatia is only about a 2 1/2 hour flight.
