Odeon cancelled screening and total lack of customer care!

Back in April we went to the Whiteleys Odeon in West London to see a one-off screening of Flight 666, the Iron Maiden film.

This was supposed to be a special occasion for the fans to see the film on the big screen in all its digital HD glory. It would only be shown in a handful of cinemas around the country that night and never again.

We sat down, the cinema was nearly full, and we waited and waited for the film to start. Some 45 minutes later, still no film. Some horrible background music, occasional loud screeching noise and a blindingly bright green screen was our only "entertainment".

Then someone came out to break the news to us, there would be no screening due to a technical fault. You can imagine how angry we all were. It was too late to try to catch the film somewhere else, so the opportunity was gone.

We got refunds after a long wait, but how does this make up for the disappointment, the ruined evening, and the time and money wasted travelling to the cinema? Yes we could all wait to see it on DVD, but that’s not the same, is it?

I wrote a complaint via the Odeon website, got a reply from Whiteleys promising some guest passes. They never came. I gave them a couple of weeks, then wrote again directly to the manager, got no reply.

I know my postman, I’ve never had anything go missing, so the only conclusion is the passes never got sent. So that’s gripe no.2, failed to keep a promise, given in writing!

I sent another complaint through the website to customer services, explaining all this, and still no word from Odeon. It’s like they would like all this to be brushed under the carpet. But it’s only making it worse.

So that’s gripe no.3, total lack of customer care. You would think they would have the decency to reply to an email!

Judging from the Iron Maiden website, other people have complained but didn’t get very far.

Odeon claim to be "fanatical about film", but they are not fanatical about providing customer care, are they?

Needless to say I will never set foot in an Odeon cinema as long as I live.

I'm pretty sure that Odeon have a customer care line.

Try 020 7792 3147 for Whiteleys - see what they've got to say for themselves.

It is if you get it on bluray and you have a big HDTV with 5.1 surround sound and you put your chair right in front of the tv. Maybe even better because you don't have people making loads of noise rustling popcorn and crisp packets

that the whole point of going to the cinema is to be irrated by the the other people being inconsiderate by chatting to one another during the film.

when i was pregnant with our 1st baby, we used to go to the odean every weekend, enjoying our free time while we could, when i was 9 months i went to use the bathroom before we got our tickets, i was desperate! half way there we were stopped as the toilets were for 'customers only', even though we explained that we were gonna get our tickets after he still wouldnt let me go so we left the building and never went back. it has since closed down so we got the last laugh ha ha ha

Of course they don't HAVE TO, but that's not the point.

A little gesture of good will would go a long way towards convincing me that they care about their customers, and that I shouldn't just get a huge TV with surround sound, buy a load of pirate DVDs and never go back to a cinema again!

Yup! Already done that! Big TV, Bluray player, surround sound - worth every penny.

A "NO" to pirate DVDs though, as the picture and sound quality is usually rubbish!

I got SO fed up with my local Odeon; expensive, sticky seats, rude staff etc... so I gave up going.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
