Blackpool, 6 kids, low budget - advice pls

Hi all,
We want to take 6 kids (under the age of 7) somewhere at the end of this month and we eventually decided on Blackpool.
The problem is we have a very tight budget and need some advice regarding travel, accomodation and the pleasure beach tickets.
This great site has already helped with advice regarding 3 for 2 tckets to the park and possibly free travel for some of the kids with paying adults but I need more advice if possible.
Any idea how much I can pay for two nights in a decent, cheap place that is not too far from the park or within easy commuting distance and will we all be allowed to stay in the one room (2 adults and 6 kids)?
Any other money-saving tips would be most welcome.
Our destination is flexible but I want somewhere the kids will enjoy and get to do stuff.
Many thanks.

Yes, I'd recommend the tower - we nearly didn't go in when we saw how much it cost (a few years back now), but the tickets do include an awful lot of things to do, including the circus, and we were glad we did. Note that Amys link has a special offer if you book tickets online, but it has to be done by Friday....0 -
Just spotted this link on the tickets board on how to get reduced price tickets for the Tower (including the circus)

I find self-catering far cheaper overall than cheapy hotels/Travelodges. The trouble with hotels is you have no way to prepare your own food, so end up spending a lot on eating out. Even taking 8 of you to McDonalds can't be cheap!
If you can stay in a self-catering flat, you can have breakfast there, make sandwiches to take on days out, and even cook your own evening meals if you like.
Accommodation may be a bit more than the Travelodge, but your food costs should be similar to your normal supermarket shop.
However, this does assume you're planning to go for a week as most self-catering places will only book a full week (not an odd night) in peak season...0 -
Do you have any Tesco Clubcard vouchers that you can convert to deals vouchers?
You could use them on the Pleasure Beach, the Tower and the Zoo.0 -
