Thank you. I am very touched that everyone is taking such trouble to help me and give me advice. I will do a brainstorm over the weekend. I have been very busy today because I have been putting masses of computer games on ebay and have sold 4 already and sent them off. I have walked to the post office twice. I think maybe they were too cheap but as with everything you learn by your mistakes. I am about to put some more on. Anyway about all the advice on this thread, my husband is still adamant about moving. We have had the yobs outside again today as the weather has been warmer. It is only a matter of time before they return in full force. However, I am going to make a tremendous effort with the debt before we move, and then pay it off completely before doing any works on the new house. Although the monthly payment on the mortgage is higher that is because we have to wait a year before we can do a deal or we will pay a redemption fee on the mortgage. (Town & Country gave us this advice). So by next year our mortgage payment will reduce and we will only have another 8 years of it. Once the debt is paid off then we are going to save and do the improvements bit by bit. I am pretty sure that is what our decision is going to be so the advice on here has swayed me. Also I am going to be making some radical changes to our outgoings. So thank you all. Happy Easter.beverleyhills wrote::grouphug: tesuhoha
The hardest person to tell the truth to, is oneself. People have posted diverse opinions in response to your request. Receive them to clarify your thoughts and develop a strategy for managing your financial affairs. Don't waste your energy or cloud your thinking by getting into conflict with posters in an attempt to defend your position. Don't make kneejerk decisions in response to suggestions.
each action would have on your finances and what changes you need to make to reach your chosen goals.
Best wishes bh
I am posting on your other threadThe forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Listen love
Dont worry about ebay, sometimes fine balance for what you charge, it is surely better to have the money, than have to pay listing fees cos something hasnt sold cos it was too expensive. Sounds like you are pricing just right to me
Been thinking of you my love
Lynzx x:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Sounds like you got it sussed now, well done! & hope the sales go well. :j

I've been reading your threads over the last couple of days, and I know its been a bit of a rollercoaster for you.
But now you've sat down and got everything clear in your head about what money you have got coming in and going out, and really thought through your plans about moving and doing up the new house. So good for you, you sound a lot calmer about what you have decided to do, and I'm sure that has put you in a much better position to get things sorted out.
Make sure you keep us up to date on how it is going!0 -
tesuhoha wrote:My daughter is now planning a PT job during term and then FT over the summer as she did last year. She was unable to claim any financial aid with fees etc because our income is too high. Dont think they take debts into account, do they? If they do, then I will suggest it to her but im reluctant for her to take on any more debt as i know what a struggle it is.
My children have to pay full fees and only get 75% of the student loan because of income (including my company car) but you really can't afford to pay all her living expenses, that's what a student loan is for. I don't agree with the system but to be honest I can't afford to support them totally living away from home and still have a life.
My son is in 2nd year, he has always had a part-time job and fulltime in all holidays, in fact he has 2 jobs one at home and the other at uni. My daughter works every weekend, she is in 1st year.
I contribute the fees and give them £100 per month each which is what I was giving them before they went to uni for school lunches and bus fares etc. The student loans, whilst debt are at a low rate of interest and only payable once the graduate is earning a minimum of £15k.
What I am trying to say in my rambling way is you don't have to pay for everything, your daughter will not learn the value of money if she never has to budget herself. There are posters who say you shouldn't give them anything but I don't agree, I choose to support my two but not to the extent you do.
I have never paid for private education so I can't really comment on the fees for the resits but it seems a lot of money, hope he is going to benefit from it.
I understand why you are doing the education support thing and if you could afford it, it's your money spend it how you want, but you can't afford it and you all have to face the reality of the situation before your husband works himself into the ground and you have a breakdown from the stress.0 -

Everyone is so nice. Thinking of you too Lynz. Hope you sorted that money out. I am still busy. Been posting computer games all evening. Have sold 5 already and have found out that another one is extremely rare and one similar to mine sold at £21. I have been offered a private sale of £7 but have refused it, offered to take £10 but they have not replied yet. I pay DDs rent and fees but not day to day living like food, fares etc. The mobile was her Christmas pressie and its a pebl and i didnt pay any money for it as its on contract but am going to renegotiate the deal soon. I've caused a bit of a sensation with the school fees and I must admit that I regret this last year, not because of the education because my son has gained a B in English and a C in Geography and hes sitting a biology GCSE in June and 4 AS Levels. I know that is not that great but they arent as easy as people think (I work in a school and a lot of plagarism goes on with teachers, and parents do kids coursework. i refuse to help him at all with coursework). What I do regret is the money but it all stops in June. My husband thinks that it will be worth it if he gets the grades to go on to A Levels but he will be doing them somewhere else because we cannot do this anymore. Its crazy. Anyway its nice to talk to you all about my innermost worries and receive your thoughts. I read them all with interest but dont have time to reply to every useful comment especially now as im doing all this ebay llisting and it takes ages cos im researching each item first.
