    Thanks everybody for your replies. I've managed to find it in Tesco's in Gillingham, don't know why I didn't spot it first time (although I am just a man as my Mother in Law is found of telling me).

    I'm going to give it a try this evening. Wish me luck folks.

    Well I tried it last night, I didn't think it was too bad. On it's own, soaked in beef stock it looks a little pale and unappetizing.

    So I created a roux from flour and the remaining beef stock, reducing to a thick(ish) gravy. Mixing this with some sauted onions, mushrooms and the soaked mince produced a fairly decent alternative to the filling for a cottage pie.
