Housing Association serving Notice of Posession - help!

I'm a little bit narked now. Not scared as I know everything is going to be ok.
Got a nasty letter from the housing association this morning saying that if I didn't pay the arrears within seven days they'd take legal action against me and I had to call.
So I did - they posted this AFTER all the conversations and sorting out I did yesterday.
I just feel harassed. If I hadn't told them what was happening at all times over the past six weeks I'd understand it but I've been in touch right the way through.
Quick to want their money, slow to do repairs this lot. They left us in our first christmas in our house with no heating or hot water for TEN DAYS. My son was eight months old at the time.0 -
As a couple of people have mentioned, they have policies which they have to stick to- I have also been in this position. Be assured it is nothing personal, I am sure they are very pleased to have a tenant as commited to sorting out the problems as you are! I'm very happy to hear that all is going to be okay as I know just how you must have felt.0

As I've emphasised before, keep immaculate records of all your communication with the landlord, including who you spoke to and what was said - make notes. For every phone conversation you have with them, consider then sending a brief and polite letter to them to confirm what was agreed and keep a copy. There's a phrase that 'a verbal agreement isn't worth the paper its written on'.
For example,
"As per the phone conversation I had today, xx July, with Ms Bloggs, I reported that a representative of the Housing Benefit informed me yesterday, xx July, that the payment of xx outstanding housing benefit would be made on xx date and which will reduce the arrears of xx to xx . Ms Bloggs confirmed that the court proceedings would be withdrawn if xx condition was met by xx date."0 -

Is it possible, due to the timing of the post, that this letter was actually produced and posted before the telephone conversation you had?0
