I have just taken delivery of my new Dell Laptop. I haven't switched it on yet as I would like some advice before I go any further.

The first thing I noticed was the label which says Intel Centrino2 inside.

My order states: Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor P7350

Please excuse my ignorance but is this correct?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I hope that is good news:confused: - it's just that I was expecting the same logo as the one on my other machine.

I will bite the bullet and switch on. :o

There is often a lot of misconception about what Centrino is. Centrino is simply the name used to group the 3 main components in your laptop that Intel manufacture. The Processor, the wireless card, and the chipset. As such, you will only ever see Centrino on laptops.

The processor in your laptop is a Core 2 Duo, which is correct.

    I hope this helps

As Wizk1 says, Centrio is actually just a marketing term (mainly associated with wi-fi), nothing to do with processor type or speed.

Intel are tidying up all the confusing naming at the moment, they will soon just be core ix depending on the chip.

Centrino basically refers to the entire system, where the processor, motherboard and chipset are specifically designed to work together to improve system stability, performance and battery life.
