Hello all,
My OH and I are going travelling for 3 and half months around SE Asia before heading off to Oz on a permanent visa.
We have funds to cover the trip, but we would like a credit card for any emergencies. What card would you recommend? Would a 0% card be best?
Many thanks

you should consider:
-two current a/cs with two debit cards .... just in case one doesn't work or is lost
one should be Nationwide as their foreign currency charges are less than most of the others
-two credit cards again in case one is lost or is rejected... those with the lowest foreign currrency fees are PO and Nationwide.
have a nice trip0 -

Ok, that's great, thanks. We might as well go with Nationwide for both. Do we just open a current account with Nationwide to get the debit card?0 -

yes you need to open a current account with nationwide to get a debit card... however they can be a bit picky and my only give you a cash card.. take it and upgrade later.0 -
I've just gone onto the Nationwide website and see that they offer a Cash Card, which is free to withdraw cash abroad, but the debit card carries 0.84% in the countries we are visiting-so would this be better for us when withdrawing money in SE Asia?0

I've no experience of using the cash card .. maybe some-one will come along who has used it abroad.
Note however that although Nationwide charge 0.84% fee most other a/cs charge 3% .. check you existing account0 -
Has anyone used the Nationwide Cash Card abroad?0
