You haveto look at which flights are £1,otherwise you will spend too much time on guess work.

I do a lot of legwork for hotels,and there is always www.hostelz.com site looks good though I have not used it yet. I don't plan to spend more than £ 65-£70,sometimes £50 a night-in some places thats hard-you have to accept a lesser standard.

Anyone know if you can book extra hand luggage - like a guitar?

A guitar is too big for hand luggage. You can take it on board with you but would need to pay for a seat for it. Not bad if its only £1!!!!
