    There are numerous sources on the web with varying versions of these figures. The best I could find directly comparing these 3 modes was here
    This gives the following in terms of
    CO2 per km per passenger:
    bus: 0.069
    electric tram/trolley bus: 0.042:D
    diesel train: 0.06
    electric train: 0.065

    They state that the data is taken from
    the UK Department of Environment (Defra). The source is “2008 Guidelines to Defra’s GHG Conversion Factors: Methodology Paper for Transport Emission Factors”, so seems as though it's good.
