We have just had one of the above freeze on us - its out of warranty. Done all the switching on and off etc, but when it comes on, its on one channel, and won't do anything, switch off, nada, ziltch. We have thought about replacing the hard drive, but I have a feeling it may be the tuner - any help appreciated please.
PS we aren't that technically minded, but as the thing is kaput anyway, its got to be worth a try.

How long is it "out of warranty"? Warranties are in addition to your statutory rights and cannot take them away, (this will be stated somewhere in the product literature).

The Sale of Goods Act, (SoGA), provides for claims to be made up to 6 years after purchase.

Take it back to the RETAILER, and inform them of your rights under SoGA.

    See BERR.

Normally I would go down that route, but
its definatley too long out of warranty - from Makro as well - also wasn't expensive less that £100. Up to a year Makro are usually fine even though I believe they come under a different thing re SOGA
