Still waiting to do this year. The sun's out but no wind so they'd take an age to dry.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

That's great news!! I did that this weekend, too, and it really does lift your spirits, doesn't it?
Just as well, as the central heating then promptly packed up and is awaiting a spare part, so no more airers in front of radiators for me for a while!0 -
Its good isn't it.
Since joining here I havn't used the tumble dryer either. Saving electricity.
I've only been able to use the line once or twice, other than that the airer in the spare room works for us, (Myself and OH)0 -

We had perfect drying weather yesterday and a washing machine full of wet washing. I was sat at work thinking how perfect it would be if I came home to find all the washing had miraculously made its way to the line, pegged itself out and therefore dry and ready to be brought in when I got back from work...
....today it has rained non stop so far after I washed all the spare bedding thinking that I could hang it out this morning.
Flippin weather
I rarely use our tumble drier for anything other than a quick blast with the towels. We have a 'pulley' (old style dryer) in the kitchen that I hang everything over.
I love being able to throw everything over the line and bring it in smelling fresh and clean. Shame theres so much less washing in the warm weather.. :rotfl:“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

I hung my first lot out last week - 2 loads. Beautiful day, almost dry - looked out 20 mins later and it was "persisting down" Had to have a blast in TD then!

I just love putting my washing on the line
Always have, not sure if it is therautic or what? When my son was younger I used it as a way to get some peace and quiet, cruel mother that I am! I am so very lucky as I have a south facing house and garden so I use my line all year round, assuming its not raining of course! My kitchen opens directly into the garden so if the washing is out and it starts to rain, I am able to quickly gather it in. We do have a TD but try not to use it as much as possible.

Hi my pensioner friends and I have really had a giggle about this, we have all being drying our jeans on the line, over radiators, Flately driers if we were lucky, we think probably late 60's. But none of us have ever had a tumble drier. This seems to be what old style is all about, you use what you have got. Thank you so much for this post.Sealed pot challenge 5430
