Has anyone found travel insurance that covers swine flu?

Posted on travel as well as wasn't sure which was best!

My current insurer which is up for renewal said they cover if you're ill before you go and have to cancel but don't cover if you get it whilst on holiday. Don't quite understand why.
Anyway, has anyone found an insurer that covers both?
Thanks

Fortis through a broker should cover it, providing your not travelling against Foreign Office Advice and you arrange cover / book the holiday before any problems in the country your going to

If you needed emergency medical treatment and had to pay for it, your policy would cover it, (unless it was excluded in writing in the policy).

Does any policy specifically exclude cover for swine flu?

All policies will exclude it if you travel to a country which the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised against travelling to because of it, and check whether a policy you are interested in says anything about not covering any pandemic related claims.

Are there ANY countries that the Foreign office have advised against due to Swine flu? I thought it was only Mexico and now that's been lifted?

I'm confused to be honest. The guy I called said to me we don't cover it because 'you know about it' ??!!! Dunno what the hell that means!

I'm going to find the best deals and then call around to check :D

You need to check if pandemics are excluded from cover. It is unlikely any policies actually name "swine flu" as being excluded.

Axa aren't covering either - but that was asking direct as against anything written in T & Cs. Seems it's best not to ask - if it doesn't say, surely they have to cover?

I have just called Oinc.com ( which do a fab deal and a 19.5% cashback) and the agent says as long as you don't have symptoms before you go and the FO hasn't advised agianst travel to that country then you are covered as unforseen illness.

Always go by what the policy says, not what an agent tells you over the phone!
