How to reclaim Bank charges, when I don't have account no?

Hello all.
Back in 2004, I got into big trouble financially, a certain high street bank clobbered me left right and centre, I remember one particular charge of at least £160 and a few more etc, levied on my account at the time. The bank closed my account but passed my debt to a recovery agency. This was before I heard anything about being able to reclaim extortionate bank charges (which from what I recall, they were)
Fast forward to now, I am paying off what I owe this bank £50 a month for the next 2 years to a debt recovery company. However, I would like to try and get some of the horrendous money back. Since I gave up all hope on this matter, I chucked out all the information. Now, I would like to at least try and get some money back off them so that I can pay the debt off quicker. Since I have no details of the bank account, Am I Barking up a blind alley? I can remember the branch, etc.
Thanks for your time.
