Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give me.
I bought a set of crib drapes for my babys room on the 5th April and they were sent 1st Class recorded on the 6th. They haven't arrived here yet and as I wouldv'e received them by now usually I asked the seller for help tracking them. The seller has given me the recorded delivery number and when I go to royal mail to try track it it says I have to wait 15 days
I know my neighbours haven't had the parcel and I know my postie well and he will take parcels to my MIL over the road if I am out ( which I haven't been as house bound at the moment). Is there any other way to try find this package as I really need these drapes to finish of things for baby and wasn't expecting to potentially wait at least 15days for them ?
 ?
Do I wait untill the 13th and so a item not recieved claim or do I need to wait out the 15days royal mail wants me to?
Thanks for getting this far and I'd really appriciate any help you can offer as I can't afford to lose the £30 these cost me.

Most probably the item is delayed in the post. So hold on for another week or so. It's not the seller's fault, so don't start the chargeback process yet. Unfortunately a small percentage of mail does seem to get lost in the system, and there's nothing you or the seller can do about it.0

have you tried calling your local sorting office or better still going down there ? This usually works for me when things get held up , I am a seller but I usually ask the buyer to try this , I also call my local office and ask them to look for it .
Most times they find it in the wrong van . Tell them it is for a present and you cant wait 15 days for it.
Worth a try rather than waiting .0

Thanks for the replys. I have called the sorting office and they have had a quick look and can't see it and they will more throughly later ( FIL was the post master untill he retired recently so they know me and will look properly).
I know I must sound impatient but I thought it would arrive sooner being recorded 1st class and I know its not the sellers fault I suppose I have been spoilt by never having a problem with recorded items before. Its made worse necause its something I really wanted to have asap and thats why I chose that auction because it was recorded I suppose I have been spoilt by never having a problem with recorded items before. I'll wait a while longer but I think Royal Mail are pushing there luck expecting people to be happy waiting 15 working days before they can try find items
 Thanks again,

Also remember that it is not you that should be chasing up royal mail. It is the sellers responsibility. They should recover costs after the waiting period lapses. Now it is your decision if you want to press them for a refund because the item hasn't arrived or wait until they can claim. I personally would wait a little longer and and a seller i would also apreciate if a buy waited a little as well. But each to their own on how long you wait.0

Thanks Kaminari, I thought it was odd that I was expected to chase up RM but I have never not had anything turn up after completing over 200 transactions so this is a bit new to me.
I think I will wait untill the start of next week and if hasn't turned up by then I'll start an item not received claim because I think if its not here by then its lost/misplaced.
Will I be entitled to my P&P costs as well or just the purchase price if it does come to having to claim?
 Thanks again for your help

Before you make a claim ask the seller nicely if you could have a refund as the item hasn’t turn up. No threats or anything like that. Just a polite request. Give them a day or two to respond/refund and if that is unsatisfactory then proceed with the claim. It just gives the seller a chance to sort it out before it goes too far. Also they seem unaware that it is their responsibility to do the leg work with Royal Mail. I would politely point this out to them too. There is no use worrying too much about it. The item will either turn up or you will get your money back through a refund or claim. Let the seller do the running around and worrying.0

Unfortunately Recorded Delivery doesn't seem to be very reliable. I send all my items recorded and have had to wait the full 15 days twice recently before the item arrived at the buyers address. Also, if you are out and a postie doesn't have any 'notice left' cards or can't be bothered to fill one out (yes, it DOES happen!) then the parcel will sit at the local sorting office so I advise buyers who contact me about non-delivery to phone and check just to make sure. I've had quite a few buyers that find their item is at the sorting office! If you've never had an item take longer than 4 days to reach you then I think you've been very lucky! He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
