Word 2007 - it's awful!

I really don't like it and think it is backward step. I really miss the old autotext facility, which was so easy and straightforward. Now I have to try and think up codes for autotext, which I forget:mad:

Does anyone else have problems with it, or is it just me?

I think it works much, much better. The ribbon brings no end of improvements, much easier to use.

i dont use the autotext much, in terms of usability its about the same as any other office version for me, i have use keyboard commands such as ctrl + p since day one practically. I must say the only let down ive had with it is its speed, i already downgraded from vista to XP, but it seems 2007 is still a bit on the slow side.

saying that it wasnt this slow on windows 7 :p

I've just upgraded and it isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Some of the things have moved around, but it's not necessarily better or worse; just different.

It took a little while to get the hang of certain aspects, but once you do, Word 2007 is really intuitive.
  • Don't get used to it too much because Office 2010 will be here at the end of the year! (Or early next year at the latest!)

I'm still at the 'it's fuggin awful and makes me want to cry' stage.
One day will come the 'it all makes perfect sense and it's brilliant' stage.
    Can't wait.

I agree with others it takes some time to get used to but once you've used it a few times it becomes second nature.

You can download software to give you the classic menus, if you Google 'classic menu word-2007' it gives over a million results, the couple I looked at you could get a free trial then you had to pay.

Takes a while at first to get used to but for me it does deliver on the promise of it being more effective user interface than the overladen menu driven system that Office 2003 was. I found I was faster on 2007 after about 6 months than I ever was after years of using 2003.
