I want an XD card for camera

  • Thanks for the site silent_bob! I emailed olympus to double check what cards my camera needs, and they sent me back this

"Our xD cards exist now in these versions:

    The xD “Normal” xD cards:
This is the initial xD card. Exists up to 512 MB

    M xD cards:
M means multi layer and makes it possible to make xD cards up to 8 GB big.
At the moment is 1 GB the biggest on the market.

    H xD cards:
It is also possible to make much bigger, as M cards, but also faster. H
    means high speed.
Pictures taken with H cards will also give you access to special editing
functions, as the 3D and “Art functions”, in our software Olympus Master,
without upgrading to Olympus Master Plus.

All three versions have the Panorama-function.

Your camera is compatible with all at the moment available types and sizes
of xD cards made by Olympus.

Here is the most updated compatibility list:
    http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/compati/di000374e.cfm "

Thats only for olympus, but I thought it might help.

I'm going to look at getting a new battery too, £9 sounds pretty cheap to me... :)

Asda have cheap XD cards. for safetys sake i prefer to have a few lower memory cards rather than one high memory card, as i have been known to loose them. at least this way, if using them on holiday, i have some pics to take home with me should the card/camera go missing

Digital Depot are quite cheap also - http://www.digitaldepot.co.uk

The S type xD cards have been discontinued by Olympus, they're almost impossible to get hold of, however I think Fuji still have some stocks left although they don't make them anymore either...
  • I haven't decided yet on memory cards, I've got a 512 & two 128 (pretty tiny those are) and thought I'd just get a 1GB as its easier than changing them around when I'm at gigs, for normal photos I suppose it doesn't matter so much, its just in some stores its only a matter of £10 or less difference so I think what the hey...

Found a cheap battery at http://www.dwuk.com so I'll see if they are any good, its supposed to be here on monday. Nice shop, they've got a few cards & gadgets but no xd's.

@Missk - I found this when i was looking for cards, these don't say that they are the newer type, maybe you could ask - http://www.memorymegastore.com/searchResults2.asp?searchtype=3&andor=0&tabSelect=TAB5&searchvalue=xdfuj
