Halfords Coolbox Misprice?

Went to Halfords (Cardiff) yesterday to buy an electric (8 Litre) hot/coolbox for the car. Large notice says they are now reduced to £35. As I wandered around I noticed that a shelf sticker seemed to be referring to the same item but for only £19.99 - confused I asked an assistant for clarification. He could offer no explanation and sold it to me for £19.99 without any prompting. You might want to check your local stores.

does anybody know if this is in other stores? Don't have a Halfords near enough to me to check.0

Big W Parkhead Glasgow are selling there's off at £19.98, I bought one on Sunday, quite a few left on the shelf if anyone is after one in the Glasgow area, don't know if the offer in Big W nationwide? Only problem is that the cigar lighter cable is short and I don't have a cigar lighter socket in the boot of my car so will need an extension.0

Does anyone know if this model has a safety cut-off so that it doesn't drain your battery to zero ?????0

Big W's own brand doesnt seem to have any safety cut off, maybe I should think about joining the AA before using this LOL... thanks for pointing this out as its not something that crossed my mind !0

Impossible to tell from the pic, but I'll have a look on Thursday if I can - how much can you really get in one of these?
Could you get a bit of meat, some drink and milk in one for example?
Thanks

The model in Big W is a 24 litre size, cools only unlike Halfords model.
Here's a link, priced at £29.95 on the web but £19.98 in Parkhead Store Glasgow

Thanks for that Jeff - I just rang my local store, and they say they do have them in stock, but at £29.99 :-(
Was it actually priced up at that, or did it just scan as that?
This would be much preferred, as it is 4 times the capacity of the Halfords one.
I guess even at £29.99 it is still a good deal.
Might have a look on Friday.
Thanks again

Doesnt look like it...designed by dumb dumbs...why oh why dont they add an timed auto switch and/or a manual override switch so you can turn it off...dirt cheap to implement....i bought one from makro and couldnt believe it didnt auto switch off......bit like designing a car that doesnt drive, a plane which doesnt fly.... i took it back!
Personally i would rather risk the food going off than not being able to get home (until im rescued!)!
Sure you can take out the plug....but every time you stop for a while...what a painStevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -

Hi Dan
The coolers are priced at £19.98 in Glasgow, 2 in stock this evening as I was back down at Big W tonight, lots of other offers in the reduced area, I bought an air purifier £79.99 down to £19.98 and a foot spa reduced to £4.98. If you have a Big W close by I would call into the store and check out the price yourself as the prices dont seem to be consistent within the store, my air purifier scanned at £29.99 at the till then they had to over-ride the till to change the price to £19.98.
Cheers

I have one which I bought in Makro 2 summers ago, similar to the one in Woolworths. I have taken it on 2 day trips and have left it plugged into the cigarett lighter for the full duration and the battery has been fine. I have done this about 8 times and have had no problems. I think I only paid £20 as it was on promotion.0
