Lucky you............we tried last year and they came out about as big as my thumbnail - OH pulled one up the other day and it was way too small.
We have to grow our veg in pots but that shouldn't make any difference I've been told. Maybe we were a bit late planting them out. OH's still hopefulI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

It does take a long time to get decent sized carrots. 20+ weeks isn't unusual. I grow most of mine in pots (about enough for 1 meal per pot), and normally harvest them when they're finger sized. That way all I have to do is scrub them and cook them. No chopping involved.0 -
they tasted great thx and they were grown in a container btw0

We also had my first lot of carrots for dinner sunday. They tasted lovely and they were quite a good size too.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I've also been growing in containers, eated 2 boxes full so far (about 20inches by 14) I guess about 10 portions per container and now replanted to try and get a second crop, they taste so much better than shop bought carrots.
The trouble is all I have been really successful with is Carrots and tomatoes (a few beans but not many and a few sugar snap peas as well), no more than abut 4 portions of beans in total and 2 portions of sugar snaps, still first proper year I've tried growing veg so can't complain too much.0 -

Made a sausage casarole (sp?) apart from a tin of toms and the sausages themselves all was home grown. Added carrots, broad beans, peas, garlic, herbs, brocolli and onion. Twas delish served with home grown new spuds mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Our carrots, for the second year running, are curly! We were really careful this year not to overplant and don't have really stoney soil, but still they seem to have gone on walkabout and grow in every direction except down! Really puzzling!?!
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
