New flat - fridge broken, fix myself or inform LL?

We're in the process of moving into our new flat (OH's stuff is there, mine is still at home but easier to get into new place than his was), went there today with the bare essentials only to find that the fridge isn't working. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that the door is screwed into the door of the containing cupboard, or if it's not working because the freezer doesn't work (they are supplying a separate freezer, although we don't have it yet as there's been some dispute over the drying room where it's housed, should get it in the next week or so, though).
Should I try and fix it myself (unscrew the fridge door from the cupboard) or should I tell the landlady and leave it for the moment?

I’d get LL to look at it. You might cop the blame if you tinker with it.0
-
The LL provided it, therefore it's his responsibility to fix/replace it.
I presume you've tried the obvious:
- is it plugged in
- does that socket work
- has the fuse in the plug blown
- have you turned up the knob INSIDE the fridge that sets the internal temperature.0 -
Haven't tried looking at the plug, it's way in the back and on my own I can't get in as there's not a lot of space. Knob in the fridge is right up, and has been since before we moved in, as no one's touched it.
Will get OH to give me a hand looking at it when he gets in."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

If it's on the inventory then tell the landlord. If it's not on the inventory then the landlord might refuse to fix it.0

Once you've checked as per Pastures New's post, let the LL know what the problem is and so it in writing, keeping a copy.
Always report any repairs/maint issues in writing or if you do it initially by phone follow it up with a letter & keep a copy with your tenancy agreement.0
